Why is change so hard?

This is my first foray into the world of blogging, so please forgive me for the mistakes I will inevitably make.

The purpose of this blog is to give me the opportunity to share some of my personal thoughts, experiences and opinions from the world of project management and organisational change.  I have deliberately made the decision to write this in my own name and not as a representative of any business I am involved with or associated clients and partners.  Although it will hopefully complement the consulting services that I provide.

I hope the title of this first post is quite apt, because having come up with the idea to create this blog and having lots of thoughts and ideas about what to write about, I have found it very difficult to actually start.  This is something new and has risks associated with it, because generally I find this type of free writing to be outside my comfort zone.

Change is difficult because in most cases there is a degree of uncertainty and we know we will, at some stage in the change process, be forced to work outside of our natural comfort zone, take some risks (hopefully calculated and well managed risks!) to achieve an outcome that at the start may not be fully defined.

For any organisation to be successful in changing it must have Vision, Passion and Action.  I will explore this in more detail in my next post.
